Message from Thian Nie Khian, Michaelian

In 1961 I was in F1A2 and my form teacher was the late Master Albert Teh.

I remember we shuttled between between two classrooms, one next to the tuckshop and the other a Malay Hut on stilts.

We (classmates who completed F5 in 1965 in the 1965 Michaelian Chat-group) remember we had most subjects in the classroom next to the tuckshop, and some subjects like history and Malay at the Hut.

When we asked around and checked old issues of the school magazine on the OMA website we couldn’t find any photo of our beloved Hut. I was shocked to find out it was burnt down circa 1970 probably owing to an electrical short circuit.

If anyone has a picture or photos of our Hut please share. And perhaps you can also share your experience and tell us also if the Hut was used as a relief classroom to supplement other classrooms such that the Hut was used by more than one class of boys on any given day.

All the best and warm regards.
